Ludwig Berger
Sound Design & Location Sound

My sound design work grows out of the same practice as my installations and radio pieces — a close and musical listening to specific places and situations. Working between experimental field recording and electroacoustic composition, I approach sound design less as post-production and more as a second layer of meaning: one that can unveil hidden dimensions of a subject or exist in productive tension with what is seen.
I work primarily with film documentaries, collaborating with directors whose projects share a similar attention to landscape, ecology, and social history. I also work in theatre and audiovisual art, often in long-term collaborations with directors and artists who bring a kindred sensibility to their work.
